Research: Music Video Conventions and Codes
My group and I decided to do "Jhené Aiko - Wrap Me Up" which is a Christmas R&B Song for our music video. What is usually seen in music videos are actors doing some kind of action related to what is being said.
- Her costumes were very feminine, such as dresses, crop tops, and occasionally head wraps or head accessories
- Props include microphones, meditation equipment, and studio equipment.
- Her appearance is always clean, glowly, and put together. For example her hair always being freshly styled as well as her hair.
- The score through her music videos are slower-paced to give more of a tranquil, empowered, and mature feel.
- Conventions and codes include camera angles are usually angled around the artist to maintain the artist throughout the whole video.
- Conventions and codes include materialistic things in order to represent wealth.
- Music videos often include pathos. Artist sometimes show sad, emotional, or cheerful events or subjects to appeal to the viewers emotions.
